Commis Chef – Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen brigade at a luxury country house hotel set within beautiful parkland surroundings in Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional, high-quality hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities

Assist senior chefs in the preparation and presentation of dishes across multiple outlets (restaurant, lounge, private dining, weddings, and events).

Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
*
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.
*
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in line with food hygiene regulations.
*
Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by senior chefs.
*
Support stock rotation and proper storage procedures (FIFO).
*
Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
Requirements
*
A genuine passion for food and hospitality.
*
Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 1/2 or equivalent) preferred.
*
Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.
*
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
*
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event days.
